Answers to the questions that come up most with AstraSSH.
Can I try the app without a server?
Yes. On the empty Dashboard choose Explore Demo Servers. A simulated Proxmox VE cluster and Linux server run inside the app, with every feature unlocked.
A server from my other device asks for its password again.
That is expected. iCloud sync shares the server list, but credentials stay on each device unless you turn on Passwords and Keys under Settings › iCloud and select that server. Each device also confirms host keys and certificates itself.
The app says a host key or certificate changed.
The server presented a different identity from the one you approved. This happens after a reinstall or a key rotation, and it is also what an interception attempt looks like. Check with whoever runs the server before trusting the new one.
Files and Docker on Proxmox say the node can't be reached over SSH.
Those features use SSH to the node, which the Proxmox API doesn't replace. If the API address is public or behind a proxy, add the node's SSH addresses (LAN, Tailscale or another VPN) under the server's Settings › Host Access.
How do I restore AstraSSH Pro on another device?
Open Settings › AstraSSH Pro and choose Restore Purchase, signed in to the same Apple Account. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Which Proxmox VE permissions does the app need?
None beyond what your user or API token already has. Actions you aren't allowed to perform are disabled, and a refusal from the server is shown with the privilege it asked for.
Still stuck?
Settings › Diagnostics in the app has a log with secrets already removed, which helps when describing a problem.
